Yew! That feel. You may even feel embarrassed to sit with your legs crossed so that your shoes are not visible from below. You may find it difficult to remove these sticky substances in both, financial way as well as your physical exertion. I had created my own shoes online and I will not let these sticky materials to ruin them. Fortunately, there are many solutions to this problem with ordinary household items. So every kind of sticky things, whether it is glue, bubble gum or varnish, get rid of these with few simple steps in no time. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.


Sand burst:


  • Sand or soil can be used to remove sticky material. All you have to do is to sprinkle some soil or sand directly onto it.

  • Start rubbing the sand using craft stick. Slight push it into the grooves on shoe bottom.

  • You may add more soil or sand if required. Continue the process using stick until the sticky substance finally wears away. It may come off in small pieces depending upon the sticky material. So, apply sand multiple times and scrap until it’s completely gone.


Oil Cleaning:


  • WD-40, peanut butter, baby oil or any oil are few things that you may use to remove. Apply a little amount of previous mentioned material using a rag to the sticky substance.

  • Wait at least 10 minutes to let oily substance to absorb the sticky material.

  • Now gently rub the rag on sticky material to remove it. You may repeat the process multiple time for perfect results.


Using Shoe Bag:


  • All you have to do is to place the effected shoe in any plastic bag.

  • Wrap it up loosely in such a way the effected shoe bottom is completely pressed with plastic bag.

  • Now put the bag in the freezer for at least 02 hours.

  • Take out the shoes from freezer and unwrap it. Your sticky material is now stick to the plastic bag.



Using Warm water and soap:


  • Take a rag soaked with warm water and dish soap. Apply it softly on the sticky substance and start rubbing it.

  • For better results, you may also use some naphtha (lighter fluid) with another rag. Rub this rag after using soapy warm water.

  • Clean the shoe bottom again with the soapy rag to remove traces of the lighter fluid.
